Day 1: DEPART USA Depart on our international flight to Rome, Italy. Meals will be served aboard flight. Day 2: ROME Upon arrival at the Rome Airport the group will be transferred by deluxe motorcoach to the hotel, En route to the hotel, enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour from your motorcoach of some of the important sights of Rome including the Palazzo Venezia, the Circus Maximus, the Forum, the Arch of Constantine and of course the Colosseum. There are no planned activities for the rest of the day, so please enjoy some time at leisure to explore Rome on your own. Enjoy dinner at the hotel your first night in the "Eternal City." Overnight in Rome.(D) Day 3: ROME (Optional Excursion to ASSISI) Free day in Rome or you can take part in anOptional Excursion ($65. p/per) to Assisi, the town of St. Francis and St. Clare. Dinner and overnight in Rome.(B,D) Day 5: ROME (Vatican Museums) Enjoy a guided tour of St. Peter's Basilica and the world famous Vatican Museums, featuring a visit to the Sistine Chapel. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B,D) Day 6: ROME Enjoy a wonderful tour of three of the four major basilicas of Rome including St. John Lateran, St. Paul Outside the Walls, and St. Mary Major. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B,D) Day 7: ROME (Optional Excursion to MONTE CASSINO) Today is a Free Day to explore Rome on your own. Or take part in an Optional Excursion ($40. p/per) to Monte Cassino, the monastery founded by St. Benedict in the 6th Century. Monte Cassino sits on an impressive hill overlooking the town of Cassino. Return to Rome. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B,D) Day 8: ROME / LISBON After breakfast attend Palm Sunday Mass. Day 2: ROME / NAPLES / SORRENTO Upon arrival at the Rome Airport the group will be met by the tour guide and transferred to Naples, one of Italy's largest cities, for an orientation tour that will include a visit to the Church of St. Januarius and. the Church dedicated to St. Alphonsus Transfer by deluxe motorcoach to Sorrento where the group will enjoy dinner and overnight in this scenic town. (D) Day 3: SORRENTO (POMPEII EXCURSION) After breakfast depart for a morning excursion to Pompeii, an ancient city that was covered by volcanic lava during the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius over 2,000 years ago. Also visit the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary. The afternoon in Sorrento is on your own to explore, shop or just relax. Dinner and overnight are in Sorrento. (B,D) Day 4: SORRENTO / PIETRELICINA / SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO After breakfast at the hotel in Sorrento depart for San Giovanni Rotondo, the small town closely associated with the life of Padre Pio. En route, stop in Pietrelicina where Padre Pio was born and grew up. In San Giovanni Rotondo, visit the Grotto of St. Michael and Padre Pio' the "Home for the Relief of Suffering," a famous charitable work of Padre Pio. Visit his tomb, cell and confessional, and the old church where he received the stigmata, as well the Church of Santa Maria Delle Grazie, a newer church. Overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo. (B,D) Day 5: SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO / LANCIANO / LORETO The group departs for Loreto in the morning with a brief stop in Lanciano, where there was aEucharistic Miracle of Jesus that took place. Arrive in Loreto and visit the Basilica that contains the home of the Holy Family of Nazareth. Dinner and overnight in Loreto. (B,D) Day 6: LORETO / ASSISI After breakfast we depart Loreto for Assisi, the town of St. Francis. A tour will include visits to the Basilica of St. Francis (view the exquisite artwork of Giotto), the Convent of St. Clare, and the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and the Portiuncula Chapel, which houses the site of the Franciscan order. Afternoon free to explore Assisi. Dinner and overnight in Assisi. (B,D) Day 7: ASSISI / ORVIETO / ROME This morning depart Assisi for Orvieto with a brief stop in the cathedral, where in 1263 a Eucharistic Miracle took place.
